Ham Lake Fire: Gunflint Trail Forest Fire
HAM LAKE FIRE-RELATED INFORMATION
Following is information that may be helpful for citizens who are affected by the Ham Lake Fire on the Gunflint Trail.
Evacuee Information: Call (218) 387-3017 if you are trying to locate someone who has evacuated the Gunflint Trail area. This phone line is staffed by the Cook County Public Health & Human Services Department. They have contact information on people who left the Gunflint Trail area and registered at the Evacuation Center at the Cook County Community Center. If you are an evacuee who has not yet registered or who has changed location, you can call 387-3017 to file or update your contact information.
Property Information: Call (218) 387-3093 if you are a Gunflint Trail property owner seeking information regarding the status of your structure(s). This phone line is staffed by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. This phone number is reserved for property owners only.
Fire Information: Call (218) 387-3401 or (218) 260-4128, or fax (218) 387-3099, if you want up-to-date information regarding the status of the Ham Lake fire. These numbers are staffed by U.S. Forest Service information specialists. You can also go to the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais and speak with the USFS staff who have established an information office there.
Housing Information: Call (218) 387-3017 or 387-3620 if you are an evacuee who needs temporary housing. These numbers will connect you with the Cook County Public Health & Human Services Department, which can offer assistance.
Counseling Services: Call (218) 387-3624 if you are impacted by the fire and would like free assistance from a mental health professional to deal with stress. This phone line is staffed by the Cook County Public Health & Human Services Department. They can speak with you over the phone or can schedule an appointment to meet with you.
Mail Delivery: Residents with regular home mail delivery who have evacuated their homes on the Gunflint Trail can make arrangements to have their mail re-routed or held. Forms to do so are available at any U.S. Post Office or at the Evacuation Center in the Cook County Community Center.
Donations/Requests: Call (218) 387-1872 if you are an evacuee with a specific need (examples: clothing, furniture, food, medications, baby supplies, transportation, storage) or if you would like to donate items or money. This phone line is staffed by trained volunteers who will try to match requests with donations.
