Robert BriscoePotter Robert Briscoe at the Grand Marais Art Colony: Welcome reception, 6-8 p.m. Friday; tasty refreshments, music by the Sivertones. He will also bring lots of pots for your perusal. The public invited.

Help make puppets for the Summer Solstice Pageant with Good Harbor Hill Friends. Workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. All welcome. 

Full Moon Reading at Drury Lane Books, 5 p.m. Saturday by the bonfire with Bonnie Shallbetter and Arvid Williams. They’ve written a series of books about northern pioneers.

Log Cabin Storytelling with Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux, 3-4 p.m. at the log cabin at the Community Center. Rose also tells her stories at 8:30 a.m. on WTIP’s Saturday morning show, North Shore Weekend. Listen to the stories she has recorded so far here.

And if you feel like going to Thunder Bay before the passport requirement kicks in (June 1), the Thunder Bay Kite Festival is scheduled for Chippewa Park at 1 p.m. For more info, click here.

Art galleries are open this weekend, too.

Special exhibits include ”Hovland Artists Group Show” at the Johnson Heritage Post which is open from 1-4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, The Spring Art Underground Show at Betsy Bowen’s Studio, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and  ”David Hahn: Watercolors” and Finland geologist Jeff Dickson’s exhibit of the geology of the North Shore at the Cross River Heritage Center.
